ISA to partner with Catholic Charities to support new arrivals in area hotels

The Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston (CCAB) has asked the ISA to form Support Teams to do wellness checks for new arrivals staying in area hotels. With the new administration taking control on January 20, and the anticipation of a moratorium on refugee entry into the US, the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) moved to get as many refugees who had been approved to travel, into the US before that date. In the Boston area, CCAB processed 100 new client entries in December and January. These clients, ranging from small family groups to individuals, will be housed in hotels, some of which are in our area (Burlington and Saugus). CCAB is looking for volunteers to form Support Teams to do wellness checks at the hotels to make sure that the clients have enough food, clothing, and other basic needs and to coordinate to bring clients to area food pantries if needed, do clothing drives, and work with CCAB caseworkers on more complicated needs. Anyone interested in joining one of the support teams can contact ISA at info@immigrantsupportalliance.org to learn more.
