On Monday, January 20, 2025 as part of the Melrose, MA MLK Day of Service, the Immigrant Support Alliance hosted a presentation introducing the ISA to the community, describing our mission, how we support clients, and how people can join us as volunteers. Following the ISA presentation, Rebecca Zama, a Melrose resident and immigration lawyer, gave a presentation on what to expect from the new administration and what community members can do to protect the rights of our immigrant neighbors. The presentations were very well received and several people expressed interest in volunteering with the ISA. In addition, the community generously donated many personal care items to be distributed to new refugees who are currently staying in area hotels.
